So, either 1) they weren't stupid after all for wanting an economical fast-50 on aps-c, or 2) there is a FF body (in some form or another) with some pending release date.
Huh.
I never thought people asking for a cheap 50mm were stupid. The trolls who bring it up in every thread are stupid. A cheap 50mm makes sense now that they've boosted the price of the FA 50 1.4, whether there's a new FF or not. I didn't believe there would be a FF under Hoya, but I do believe we'll see one under Ricoh.

I guess every manufacturer had 200mm f/2.8 in film days, so it must be useful. I just didn't like it compared to 100mm on APS-C.
Originally posted by jsherman999 A lot of folks think the 77 is a silly FL for aps-c. I disagree there as well. Almost any focal length can be useful, and as long as great optics are involved, very fun to use.
That's true, if you "get" a focal length, or have a need for it, any can be useful. I used my 135mm every day for a month for a Single In challenge. The main reason I didn't warm up to it was because it was just too tight for portraits. OK outdoors though. It would make sense for some sports.
