On my K10, most days there lives a Vivitar 28 2.8 Close Focus - the Komine version. It's a glorious lens.

I've also got, in order of preference - Pentacon 30 3.5, - Elsinor 24 2.8, (AKA Clubman & Tefnon ) - SMC Takumar 28 3.5, - Tamron Bbar 28 2.8. They're all good, but the Vivitar just wins hands down.

A glorious lens to say the least - that is a killer lens (that particular one, the close focus wide angle)...

The Viv-Komine 28/2 CFWA is my favorite MF prime, period. Yes, the K50/1.2 is better, as is the planar Yashica ML 50/1.4, the Macro-Tak 50/4(1x), a few others. The Viv-Kiron 24/2 is useful too, although the Paragon-Cimko 24/2.8 is maybe a tad sharper. But the 28/2 CFWA just RULEZ when nonchalantly walking about.

I really like the Sigma Superwide (II) 24/2.8. I have an AF version. It is good enough (with a hood) that I don't feel the need for a DA21.
I also really like this same lens, in the AF version. I especially wanted to ditto the hood recommendation -- the lens merits more than the (sometimes) included plastic hood, which is for FF and doesn't shade as much as it could. I use a hood intended for a 28mm/2.8 (on a step-down ring which even adds a bit more protection) -- a hood for a 35mm/2.4 would still be a safe bet I think. Even with this setup the lens compares in size to my FA 35/2. The MF is not that pleasant mechanically, but the optics make the experience worthwhile.

Anyway, this, rather than a 28 (or 35) is the walkaround lens I settled on, after experimentation. The FA*24/2 is just too big for me (especially with hood)! The only thing I might like better would be a Pentax DA 24/2 XS, and only if I had the right camera to go with this (hitherto imaginary) lens. That or an FA 35/2 with a full-frame body . . .

I grabbed a Cosina 24mm 1:2.8 MC Macro today, (hope the seller ships tomorrow), can't wait to get it. Main reasons why I got it were the size and the price (paid 80 eur incl. shipping). I like small light lenses for walkaround and MF doesn't bother me.

I had that same lens branded Vivtar. It was quite good, I only gave it up for the convenience of AF.
