645 lenses on k10d

Hi,

I've seen some 645 lenses for sale, so I'm wondering about the options for using them on the k10d.

I saw somewhere that 645 lenses can be used on the K10d with restrictions. What are the restrictions? Is the focal lenght/crop factor mupltiplication the same as when using 35 mm lenses?

Anything else I should know in relation to 645 lenses on the k10d?

Thanks a lot,

Jens

A focal length is still a focal length. However, you need an adapter to use 645 lenses on K-mount AFAIK.

They'd probably all be only usable in manual mode too.

645 lenses

I've both the K-645 and the K-67 adapters.
The SMC645 75mm f/2.8 is a charming lens:

645 Medium Format lenses are generally speaking very good quality Professional lenses, so you can expect some sweet images using them.

Like Chip said you can also get a K-67 adapter. And there are people who say 67 or 6x7 lenses are better than 645 lenses.
They appear to be of equal value for the most part, but it might be something to look at.

Nice picture Chip.

I wonder if I can get an adapter to use my Mamiya lenses on my Pentax.

Jens,

There is no problem at all with the adaptation to the K10D. I use my 645 lenses as needed (mostly the long telephoto 600mm ED IF) and it mounts beautifully with the adapter... which is not cheap (about 250 from Pentax).

The lenses as you know are larger than there 35mm counterparts, and even moreso with the DA versions. But, they do work, do use the sweet spot and do save you the expense of a redundant lens. OF course, if you are old school, the manual operation should not be a problem.

Chip,

I just love this image. Moody. The bird's eye looks so humanly expressive and the colors in the monochromatic atmosphere are interesting too.

tempting...

The offer is for:

Pentax 45 mm 2,8
Pentax FA 75 mm 2,8
Pentax 120 mm 4.0 macro
Pentax 200 mm FA 4.0 IF
flash AF 500 FTZ,
645 body
magasines etc
Also, there seems to be a manual focus 75 2,8 in there. I'm not interested in the body at all, but the lenses do seem mighty nice.

What would be a reasonable amount to pay, considering that I would only be using the glass and the flash?

Thanks,

Jens

Trust me, if you buy it and it works you'll love the picture quality that you can get with that body.
It won't be long before I'd doing 100% of my B&W using a 645.
