70-210 F4 mount wiggles

Hello all:
I am new to this forum and Pentax. Suddenly discovered the wealth of wonderful lenses from this manufacturer when looking for mf options for a dslr.

Recently, I got a great deal on two M lenses, a 28mm 2.8 and a 70-210 F4 zoom. The zoom has a bit of zoom creep discussed in the database, however it is minor and not a concern. Of greater concern is a wee bit of wiggle at the mount. The wiggle is actually apparent where the aperture control (near lens base) meets the rest of the barrel. I got out my fine hobby screwdrivers and ensured that all visible screws are tight and secure, but the wiggle remains. Suggestions for correction, or is this simply a characteristic that all of this model of lens exhibits.

Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Graham/

The wiggle is not normal. I have no clue as to how to fix it beyond tightening the screws, which you already did.

Just checked my SMCA 70-210 f4, there is no movement in the mount, it is rock solid. Absolutely no wiggle anywhere near the aperture control lever or rest of the mount. Your copy might have gotten dropped at some time, these things have been around for a while.

If the entire lens wiggles, mount and all, then live with it. The hole that the lock pin drops into probably has a bit of wear. If the mount is solid and the lens wiggles a bit on the mount, you will probably have to live with that as well, since you've done about the only thing you can do.
Pretty much, just don't worry about it. While it isn't normal, it probably isn't that big a deal either. I've seen many lenses that don't sit absolutely tight on the lock pin.
