Is it worth selling Tamron 28-75 for...

Dear All,

I need your opinions on my plan to sell my Tamron 28-75 2.8 to fund the Samyang/Polar 85mm 1.4.

I've been very disappointed with my copy of the tamron or the AF of my K-X (Wanted to try the debug but can't copy the debug file on my card),
hence the Samyang idea popping.

Been salivating on the 85mm FL and even considered 50mm 1.7 + 1.5 tele front mount combo, thanks Mr. R (not sure if am allowed or if you'll allow me to divulge your nick).

Need opinions please....

Thanks in advance

Are there any links for a noteworthy review on the Samyang?.... much appreciated. Or
if anyone can guide me on the debug thing, i might as well try that first....

Not sure what you mean when you say, "can't copy debug file" - reformat your card if it's not allowing you to copy anything to it.

The 28-75 is a good walkaround lens, so if you trade it in for a 85 1.4, you may miss having a walkaround lens. That said, the 85 1.4 is a pretty fun lens.

I agree with JinDesu, and add that if you purchase a fast 85, do yourself a favor and get a better focus screen or shoot on a tripod in live view. That Samyang is a fun lens when you nail focus, and that's rather difficult prospect even if you have good vision.

And have another review, on these forums. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/46479-review-s...erical-if.html

Check out Focusing Screen and look for the Type S screen.

Sell the lens you don't like, get one you want. It's not rocket science.

I own both, and they are quite different lenses.

I also found the tammy to be quite body specific, I could never get satisfactory results on my K7 with the tammy, it was fine on my K10 and my K5, so when I am out shooting, I just avoid my K7 with the tammy., Presently I shoot K7 and K5 so the tammy goes on the K5

As for the samyang 85/1.4 it is a great lens for specific tasks, I use mine mostly for candid street shots, between F1.4 and F2.8 so that I can really isolate the subject from background.

If you plan to use it a split image is a good idea.

the only question of a trade, is you are going to need other lenses to fill in the range of focal lengths the tammy covers

I had a sig 24-70. Didn't like it, so sold it and bought a 40mm limited.
Now I miss having a walk-around zoom. So I bought a tammy 17-50.

I am not worried about the range of the tamron as i can get other zoom (walk-around) lenses (not 2.8 though) anytime here. If i cant fix the AF thing then off to the highest buyer... I've got the fa 50 1.7 for other AF shooting...

Love shooting portraits (hence the samyang idea)

Anyone know about the IQ of the CZ 28-80? checking on the Da 16-45, Da 18-55 I or II and FA 28-80 as well to serve as my walk around lens.
Any suggestions which one to go?
