I would check the focal lengths of the pictures I've taken with it. If a significant portion is between 18-24mm, this should be an easy choice.

17-50mm, perhaps?

Another choice would be the Tamron 28-75 or an 18-135mm

Maybe you can explain why 'you need to replace the kit lens' I assume because it's broken, else the option of the WR version does not really make sense.

Only you can judge which 'specs' are relevant. Longer and/or wider and/or faster and/or better IQ.

Good luck in the decision taking

Personally I would pick up another used "Kit Lens" first. In the UK they can be had for 29... only slightly dearer than the body cap. Then decide what its limitations have been for you, wide end, tele end, speed or "involvement" and address that area.

If you liked your lens before dropping it, and want the WR, then the choice seems obvious. If you wanted more speed, or different zoom range, then of course you should look for something else.

DA18-135mm-WR appears to have a slight IQ increase over the 18-55 kit... Might be worth consideration if WR is important...

If IQ and speed are more important than WR then I can vouch for the Tamron 17-50mm-2.8

Hi,

Ive been using tamron 28-75 for quite sometime and decide to sell it due to back focus problem on my K-x (tried on K-R and it works just fine). you have to consider your body too for third party lenses esp. tamron i think...

Used M28 2.8, SMC Takumar 28 3.5 and another 28mm (can't remember)... tak is the sharpest

Landed myself with the da 16-45 last night (after deciding over the tamron 17-50) and from my first pics am loving the sharpness, close focus and perspective of the 16mm....

Consider this lens, you wont regret it...

How about one of the 17-70 lenses by either Pentax or Sigma?
