Help re teleconveter for screwmount 400mm

I'd be grateful for help identifying which 1.4 teleconverter(s) would work with a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 1:5.6/400 lens (which is M42, not bayonet) and a Pentax K100D. A Pentax adapter for use of M42 lenses is already available.

Also, if anyone can point me toward a vendor for a usable teleconverter, I'd be grateful for that.

Pirmary purpose would be bird photography.

Thanks very much!

This might be a stretch, but what if you put the m42 to K adapter on a normal K mount teleconverter? I've yet to try that myself, but it might work!

The closest you are going to get is 1.5x, and those are rare.

Your best bet might be the SMC-F 1.7 AF Adapter.

It probably won't autofocus with a 5.6 but the quality will probably be better than a M42 adapter.

I use that setup sometimes with a Tamron 1.4X Pz-AF TC and works fine.

I use my m42 adapter on K mount extension tubes fairly often, and no issue. It should work just as well on a TC.

Look carefully at the rear of the lens, can it accept a forward front element in a teleconverter. If so, a ntax rear converter or sigma APO teleconverter might be an option. A they are designed for tele lenses if they fit, they will give excellent results. You need 35mm in diameter and for the sigma TC 12 mm deep. The Pentax rear converter takes quite a bit more depth

Edit note forgot to mention using a M42-K adaptor

Thanks very much for these responses. Any additional suggestions and/or guidance to vendors also will be appreciated.
