I bought (a second) Pentax ME as a kit from a guy for $40. From what I could tell on the Craigslist ad, he was including a legendary K-135 F2.5. I had to drive to a really bad neighborhood, but as it turned out, it was a Takumar-Bayonet 135/2.5 . . . but the ME worked better than the one I had, and included in the kit was a Pentax-M 50 1.7, and an excellent copy at that.

Turns out the 135/2.5 isn't that bad. Sure the fringing is awful, but hey that's what black and white is for!

I recently aquired a Tokina AT-X 28-85 3.5-4.5 for 9,95$. It was described as being for screwmount, but i couldn't find any of these for screwmount, so i gambled it would be a p/k, and fortunately, it was. Just been playing with it for a day and a half, i think B&W-shots with this lens turns out great, in colors, it's not as good as any of my M-primes, but i can't quite point out what is wrong right now. Less resolution? Colder rendering of colors? Definately worth 9.95$ though!

AT-X was Tokina's premium line, like the Vivitar Series 1 or Soligor CD. All those are mostly superior glass, and that info is spreading. You did well to grab an AT-X at that price!

I had no idea, thanks for the info
The lens show wear, as expected, but the glass elements are in really good condition. There is a bit of a wiggle in the big focusing ring( which is very smooth), but other than that and something i can't quite put my finger on,IQ-wise, it seems very nice. Will leave it on for a couple of days; it's a really useful focal range!

I have! Got a call from my local used-camera vendor, says he has a big Pentax 50mm lens ("big normal lens" were his exact words), and lo and behold - an A50/1.2 for USD 80

Only in the sense, that in front of "she who must be obeyed".

How on earth did that new lens get in my camera bag, now that's a total mystery.
