Hi!

I found a mint used copy of the Sigma 15-30mm EX lens, and it just arrived.
A nice chunky piece of glass.

But there was a funny little metal piece inside, 23x25mm and a 3mm hole in one corner. See pic attached.
What is it? Does it have something to do with gel filters or what?

I memory serves me...that device is your template for cutting a out a filter sheet. The filter is installed in the rear of the lens, as the large front element does not allow standard screw-in filters.

Ii is a great lens!

It explains why it was sticky! Not that I plan to use gel filters. And I could use a 82mm screw thread filter on the round hood.
But I don't really care for filters anyway.

I thought that I was LBA free but alas when this showed up...
