Pentax 50-135 and Sigma 50-150

Hi everyone!

Every now and then someone says that buyers should prefer the Sigma over the Pentax. The reason I'm asking is that both can be bought new here (with the respective warranties), the Siggy being 650€ and the Pen 1000€. I've read "the" thread about it and know the pros and cons of both. What I want to know now is whether you'd consider the Pentax, since it's roughly twice the price.

Kind of seems an easy choice, but I'm concerned about the lack of WR and the quality control over at Sigma's.

what.....why 50-135 is so expensive at your place.....
if you buying brand new, then you can always exchange within certain days, right?
so you can test out your sigma, and if it has back/front focus issue or anything else, you can just exchange for another one, right?
so should not be a problem...

I've had a few Sigma AF zooms, and their quality control was the only issue I've had.
As far as DA* 50-135 goes, it's all about crossing your fingers that SDM doesn't fail on you. I guess that too, is a quality control issue.

I've had many Sigma lens, and never had any issue with Quality or reliability, I can say the same for my Pentax SDM lenses, (16-50 and my 50-135) Beautiful, Never a problem.

Where I live the pentax 50-135 is about 1300$ if I want to buy it from here with warranty (after all nobody wants to take risk with those SDMs). 50-150 sigma is not available in the shops for pentax mount . In my opinion they both are great, I like the pentax(which is a tokina lens) better for it's bokeh and character but the sigma is not worse, just a little different.

@liukaitc It's expensive because I live in the boonies of technology. Great idea, thanks.

The SDMs are not a problem, I think I can ask for a recent shipment. I shalt see...
