New orleans with three lenses and K-20D

Just got back from New Orleans and wanted to share , I took my old K20D and three lenses the FA 20mm, FA 31mm, and the DA 100mm WR , the all kit fit in to a small camera bag , but most of the time I carried the lenses in my vest pockets . it was such a pleasure , I was unlimited from street , to indoor, to night time and nature . not once I felt limited .

and I am pretty happy with the result . would love to hear what you think

here is a link to the whole set New Orleans - a set on Flickr

Thanks!

It was the first time i was looking at an entire photo stream on Flickr. You got the eye, you told the story. For me it was like a journey there, thanks. The biggest surprise today (a very good one).

I see you managed to capture a lot of the architecture of the city as well as some of our local culture. You were fortunate to be able to get on the water for some of those shots. That's an area that is quite often overlooked simply because there is so much to see, and do, in the French Quarter and Uptown areas.

Thanks for the inspiration. I'll be in NO in mid-July for a conference and a few extra days with the Mrs. (late 10th anniversary getaway), so now I'll know a little better what to expect and what to shoot for. I'll likely just have a Tamron 28-75 and possibly a A50/1.7 to keep lens swapping to a minimum.

That's a really great (although fairly large) set!

I agree with StepOne... There is indeed a certain narrative to the set or indeed the city that you've caught well!

How often did you use the FA20?
It's a lens on my want list that doesn't come up for sale much (Last one I saw on that-auction-site was located in Croatia...)

thanks and I know these are a lot of photos, this is personal tour photo album I would / should have selected a few for display

about the FA 20 it is my most used lens and a default on me camera , it is a rare lens and took me a few months to find my copy even here in NYC . I ended up finding a copy on eBay . but keep looking every few months there will be one popping for sale ,
either here or on eBay .

and if you want to save your time just get the DA 21mm... its a LTD lens and its at least as good from what I see. 2.8 to 3.2 in this wide of a lens is not an issue at all , I rarely need to shoot wide open with this lens even at night, it wide and bright enough . I got all my FA lenses back when I was still shooting film , something I never do now days

yeah I see that was my objective too when I got it .
it is a fantastic lens any way and 35mm on a crop sensor is a very very useful view . keep looking you will find one I got mine for $600 I hear you can find cheaper but it is a rare lens so I had to go with what I found

New Orleans is a truly amazing place, I was there just less than a year after Katrina (2005) and saw so much devastation.

Good to see your images, showing that despite all the odds the vibrancy and spirit of the place live on.
