Older Sigma 70-200 2.8 - sending to C.H.R.I.S thoughts

As much as I would live to buy a new lens I just can't right now. One of my favorite lenses is the Sigma 70-200 2.8. It has seen better days. I bought it, gosh now that o think about it, it must have been maybe 6 years ago or more. It was used then but in pretty good shape. Since buying the paint has been coming off the metal surface which while makes it look nasty isn't a big deal for me.

The part that is a big deal is that about a year ago while at a shooting pictures I was in a hurry and when I got up with the camera and lens it slipped out of my hand. I caught it with my foot before it hit the ground and bent the coupling (not the right term) that connects the lens to the body. Bent just enough where it is not connecting with the camera body all the time and searches back and forth.

I also noticed a speck (not mold) on the inside of the front lens.

I am thinking of sending to get repaired and assume CHRIS would be the place to send for at the very least a tune up.

My question is what would it cost? On the site it says send in for estimate. Curious if anyone has sent in their Sigma 70-200 for a repair or a tune up, and what was the cost.

I mean if it's $500 then maybe time to bite the bullet for another $500 and get a new or new used model.

If $200-$300 maybe it's well worth it to have this great (to me) lens back in newer working order.

Any other thoughts or palaces to repair/refurbish a lens?

Doesn't Sigma do repairs at their facility or does it have to go to third party?
