15/21/35 is a pretty close kit while you don't have a fast lens for portraits if that is your thing.

True...MF is MF, so speed is limited to my ability to rotate the focus ring. In that sense focusing the Samyang may be a bit easier and potentially faster because of the increased surface area. Although now it sounds like I'm just trying to justify the irrational.

That being said, if the 50/1.8 comes in around the same price point as the 35/2.4 AL, it should be easy enough to justify.

that is a good point, and while i almost never do portraits your message did point out that its probably not a bad idea to throw in my s-m-c tak 50/1.4

A little unknown/ad-hoc depending on how finances and interests go this year.

Current:
DA 18-55WR
DA 18-135WR
A-50/1.7
A-70-210/4.0
Tokina 28-70/2.6-4.2
Tamron/Quantaray 70-300

The 18-55 serves zero purpose since buying the 18-135, which really made a huge positive difference in travel/grab camera and go outings for me.
It's mainly sticking around in case we pick up a second body for my wife.

Right now, the plans are mainly for faster lenses, a Tamron 28-75/2.8 for lower light and DOF isolation and some portraits, and we're finding we're doing some amount of stills shots, and the 50/1.7 is great but not wide enough for many things indoors. A bigger tossup is the DA* 60-250 or a Tamron or Sigma 70-200/2.8; lately leaning towards the DA*. If Sigma or Tamron released a WR 70-200 and it wasn't insanely priced, that may change.

I'm interested in seeing what the new DA* ~18-90 brings - specs, pricing, and availability. Right now it's on the 2013 roadmap, so I'll likely wind up with the Tamron 28-75/2.8 before then.
I'll be interested in the TC when it finally becomes available, depending on the pricing.
I am interested in some faster relatively wide primes, manual or AF, but in reality I'm not seeing many out there so the Tamron 28-75/2.8 and the A-50/1.7 may wind up the best I do there.

My 'want-list' changes daily. Currently in the bag I have a Sigma 17-70, 70-200 APO f2.8, Sigma 70-300 APO, Pentax-A 50 f1.7, Pentax-M 50 f2, Takumar Bayonet 135mm f2.5, Pentax-M 200mm f4.
I could happily sell off all the manual lenses (the last 4 in the list), to put towards a future purchase, Until yesterday, the next lens in my sights would have been a Sigma 30mm f1.4, but the Pentax 35mm f2.8 macro has edged in front.
Others on the 'want-list' are, in no particular order, Samyang 85mm f1.4 (just because I want something FAST), Samyang 8mm (for the occasional arty wide shot), and one of those Pentax lenses with a little star in the designation.

Regards

70-200/2.8 if price is right
Fast af primes?
Upgrade the 18-55 to the II model for quick shift

The most likely additions if I buy and new lenses this year are the Tamron 70-200/2.8 and either the DA15 or DA21. But my road has a lot of turnouts for used bargains, and if it's like last year, detours. I was ready to buy the 15 last year, and ended up buying a D FA100 WR macro and a Tamron 10-24. The 100 has quickly become a heavily used lens. I got the Tamron because I did a small wedding for my daughter's best friend, and it was a good choice for that, but I would rather have a prime. Exposure Plot tells me I use that lens at 21 and 24 more than any other lengths.

Of course the DA560 intrigues me, but will probably be out of my price range.

either way i see it, i dont see myself getting the higher end pentax lens.

tamron 17-50 2.8
sigma 70-200 2.8 hsm

if there was a tokina 11-16 2.8 then perfect.

original reason for going pentax was the SR. Now starting to see really affordable 5d mk1 and d700 out there.

Some time last year I decided to

a) Save for a tele (maybe DA* 300, maybe Bigma)
b) Check Ebay for cheap old glass only (wanted to try a K55F1.8 for example)

Then I found the K28 F2.0 and the first part might take a bit longer...

On the whole the Pentax roadmap has changed point a) in adding another choice but depending on price and reviews for the new 560 I might come back to the original set.

On the other hand I have a gap between 15 and 28mm so a MF 24 could be usefull, or even the DA21 ...

Or one of the Samyangs...

And I haven't even found the time to really test the K28!!!!
