I have all three, but haven't used the samyang much since I've only had it a few weeks.

Pentax 10-17 : I don't use this much any more, and now that I have the rokinon 8mm, I should probably sell it. It has quite bit of CA, and it isn't very sharp. It's a fun lens to use, but image quality isn't very satisfying.

Sigma 8-16 : It's pretty big and heavy. The image quality is pretty good, CA isn't bad (actually pretty good for a lens this wide) and the center is sharp. I wish the corners were sharper though. I'd go with this lens for architectural shots (because it's rectilinear), but with landscapes it doesn't quite have the look I was hoping for.

Samyang 8mm : Just got this lens so I haven't used it too much. I like the projection though, and I'm looking forward to taking it out backpacking. It doesn't distort as much as the Pentax, and the images don't feel as distant than the Sigma at 8mm.

There is also the Sigma 10mm f2.8 fisheye which provides a 180 degree FOV on a digital crop sensor. More expensive, but faster and probably better coatings than the Samyang, no idea if its any good though!

If you are considering for example a true fisheye the biggest difference between samyang and sigma is that sigma lenses have provision for rear filters where as samyang do not.

As for the coatings on the samyang I have found them to be excellent. It is hard, with 180degree FOV to keep the sun out of the shot and flare is generally not an issue. Also there is very little noticible CA even after de fishing the lens in PP

The 12-24 is not on the list but here is a partial comparison of the 10-17 fisheye vs the rectilinear 12-24. I started the fisheye at 12mm for these shots, so note it is even wider/fishier at the wide end...

Does anyone have a comparison shot of the DA 10-17mm next to the Samyang for a size comparison?

Great examples thank you, I already have the DA 12-24, but do want wider. I'm still in the air on what to get, I have a month before vacation lol
