So far I have had two bad copies of this lens and am currently waiting on the third...Should be in next week..Now what bothers me is that pentax came out with a ''new generation '' 16-50* which means they know they let out a bunch of bad ones...How can we / I be sure we get a good one? Ben you, yourself said how incredible the first copy of the lens you got was and now you come out and say what a better lens this new one is...What this tells me is that even people who say they have good copies, may not really have the best they could get....I don't like it...I paid $800.00 happily for it and now a new generation is out This is nonsense...I will be calling Pentax usa tomorrow...

Got mine in Singapore from a shop in Sim Lim square, just before Christmas. Is my copy okay?

More test shots at Picasa Web Albums - Selar - Singapore

I find that I mostly use the lens wide open and at the wide end, so in my opinion, this lens was a worthwhile upgrade to the DA 16-45, test shots of my copy of the 16-45 can be found at Picasa Web Albums - Selar - Sculptures by...

What's the different between the old and the new version?
It's not easy for me to tell the differences by few photos unless I could have side by side comparison.
Could anyone be more specific?

Thank you very much.

Hi ,
Sorry but there is no new version, that was just an assumption.
Some people got good ones and a couple got a bad one and people have thought that there must be a new version. They are all the same.
Cheers Neil

That is a bargain, Neil! And great quality images from the lens wide open too. I still cannot believe the colour coming from the zoom.

Maybe you should give a few tips how to haggle prices ...
