A great combination for either 10-20. Look in the third-party lens reviews section for user opinions. I personally think it's the best option for APS-C zoom at a sub $500 price point, but that's just my opinion. Check out photozone.de and lenstip.com for more formal reviews, and also hit up the Sigma 10-20 lens club thread on this forum for samples.

My quibble with the Sigma ultrawides (and other consumer-level Sigma lenses) has to do with QC issues. I've read more than a few reports from users who are happy with their Sigma UWAs -- AFTER they're returned|exchanged 2-3-4 copies and finally got a good one. I've talked with shooting and retail pros who despise Sigma because of QC problems. A bit over a year ago I could have bought any of the major UWAs -- either Sigma 10-20 or the 8-16, Tamron 10-24, DA12-24 -- and I chose the Tamron because of 1) focal range, 2) price, 3) QC, and 4) warranty. I'm quite happy with it.

My recommendation: Whether you get a Sigma or any other UWA, be sure the seller has a no-questions return|refund policy, so that you're not stuck with a luzer. Good luck!

I haven't found Sigma more subject to QC problems than other manufacturers and when I did encounter issues with my 50-150/2.8 I sent the lens to Sigma--they calibrated it for my K-5 and I'm very pleased with the result.
