Living in a tropical environment makes my need for a WR set even higher...

...or it's just LBA whispering stuff in my ear =))

has Pentax made a WR fisheye yet?

WR Limited Primes first! I hope to see pancake 15/2.4 (Samsung NX16/2.4 has proven it is possible), 30/1.8 and 60/1.3. Followed by revision of WR Zoom DC series with wide and constant aperture. Then Screw Drive Zoom for f3.5/5.6 or constant f4 zooms.

For the K-01, maybe.

I tripped getting out of a boat in the Philippines last year and splashed my K-x (not WR). There were trace amounts of water between the lens and camera. I now own a paperweight so I would definitely like more WR primes.

I do a lot of hiking and there are a lot of times that it's not raining hard to put the camera away. What Pentax really needs are WR primes wider than 55mm. I don't care if they are really fast since I like the compactness of the DA ltds. Update the DA15 and DA40 and introduce a DA25-30mm WR. I think a WR 25-30mm lens would be a big seller since it's roughly normal and a really good focal length for landscapes.

I at least wish that the camera to lens interface was WR on all lenses so I didn't risk frying my brand new K-5.

I'd like a high quality DA* replacement for the DA* 16-50 (I hate mine), a wide angle DA* prime (built like the 55mm) and maybe a WR or DA* version of the 12-24. I would buy all my lenses in WR versions if they were available.

Given the large number of lenses in Nikonland that are sealed Pentax has already fallen behind. They need to introduce a good number of primes (AFAIAC all Limited lenses should be WR for one) - So the answer is yes I'd like to see more. In fact I think if it is going to be one of the big sell features for the line at least 75% of the lenses should be WR. Right now Nikon crushes us and they don't even actively promote the idea. (including some good value dx and fx kit highlighted too - not just the pricey gear)

nikon lenses that are sealed (27 in total including multi versions)

Film/Digital
14-24 f2.8
16-35 f4 VR
24 f1.4 AF-S
24-70 f2.8
24-120 f4VR
28-300 f3.5-5.6 VR
35 f1.4 AF-S
50 f1.4 AF-S
50 f1.8 AF-S

55-300 f4-5.6 VR
70-200 f2.8 (I and II)
85 f1.4 AF-S
200 f2 VR
200-400 f4 VR (I and II)
300 f4VR
400 f2.8 VR
500f4 VR
600f4 VR

DX Digital Only
10-24 f3.5-4.5
12-24 f4

17-55 f2.8
18-200 VR (I and II)
18-70 f3.5-4.5
35 f1.8
60 f2.8 AF-S Micro

that is a huge list compared to Pentax (9 lenses)

18-55wr
50-200wr
16-50
50-135
60-250
18-135
55
200
300
They aren't all weather sealed though. Most just have an O-ring at the lens mount, like the 17-70 f4.

Regarding OP. It's silly that Pentax strengths are weather sealing and primes... but not at the same time.

The NX and K mounts have different register distance (or whatever is the term that describes the distance between rear lens element and the sensor plane).

Nope. The 18-55, 55-200 and DFA 100 macro are all screw-driven.
Good point indeed. I stand corrected. Thank you.

Also, we need to be mindful that WR comes in various grades. Try google Canon and Nikon WR failure among the WR rated bodies. K5 rocks! The true K5 equivalent in terms of built and WR capability should be Olympus E5 (4/3) and Canon 1D (FF). It will be nice to own each one of those but K5 makes more sense so I am still looking around. :P

If you think that SDM is problematic don't ask for WR lenses without SDM ask for a fix of the SDM drive.
WR always makes sense, but be aware that Pentax makes money by selling cheap glass. Any high end lens should be WR these days.
