So the 40mm XS is $249

So.... adorama now have the 40mm XS lens in stock and sell for $249 (not in stock).
I know other asia retailers already have stock for this lens.

I was hoping it will retail for $199....

I think B&H had shown that pricing for the lens way back when it was first debuted.

The DA limited being $340 right now on B&H is makes the current price of the XS seem a bit high, but considering the original MSRP was $500, the XS being priced for $250 is considerably better. I would not doubt the price would drop in 6 months.

Well the lens is $149 in the K-01 kit, so that's what you'll be able to get it for on the marketplace.

It'll drop, it's not even available via most retailers yet. Patience.

I suppose that depends. If a new one remains at a street price of $249, I can easily see one being sold brand new from a K-01 kit going for more than the $149, regardless of how much the lens costs when added to the K-01 body as a kit.

I still think the Ltd version looks much nicer (even on the K-01).... but if the XS version is <$200, maybe that is the new compromised Pentax cheap "normal" prime.

Are there any comparisons of the image quality of the two lenses? I thought that they were the same optically, and if so the XS is a bargain, no?
