In the Pentax Limited series of lenses what exactly is "Limited" referring to?

It's just a marketing term, so who says it has to mean anything?

It means high-quality yet compact.

i think it just differentiates it as having metal construction / great build quality / compact and obviously being a prime lens, though not WR (are there any WR lenses that are "limited")

also the DA series seems to all have quick shift

Quick shift allows a user to focus manually, even when in autofocus mode. It means that (in AF-S mode), you can adjust the focus after confirmation and still take the shot. Alternately, you can change the focus to something close, and let autofocus get the precise details.

With some exceptions, Quick Shift is available on all DA and DFA series lenses. The DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited most definitely has Quick Shift. Please read the lens operating manual that comes with the lens.

ok try using your 35 in AF and then lock the AF on a subject, you will notice you can still adjust the focus freely (whilst the FA77 and FA43 it is stuck unless you switch to MF mode)
