Get the 17-50 first. When you get primes, you will adore them even more I would go for 15/4, 35/2.4 and 50/1.8 later on, and hold out for WR Limited Primes (if it happens).

I've also had the 21mm Limited and am sorry I sold it..................I'll get another in the future...

I am using the Tamron 17-50 instead of primes for critical work on tripod. I sometimes switch to a 50mm prime for a bit more resolution at that focal length. I suggest the DA70 as a complimentary prime - or a Sigma 70mm macro. Both are fine optics in the portrait range.
