Not as good as the ZZZZZ and it's now only $JJJJ. Have a look at the test results - sharpness off the charts corner to corner, wide open. I just know if I get one National Geo will be banging on my door.

Managed to capture these shots of a displaced Egret and Redwing Blackbird with the DA 18-135 attached to my K70. The shots of the individual birds are approximately 50% crops.

I've some dumbass desire to replace my DA 18-135 with a different walk-around zoom... not sure why...

so I'll be spending more time with the lens to get that bs outta my head r
The 18-135 was the only lens in my travel kit for the last six months, I did not get to make many photos, but I am very pleased in the performance of this lens, even in low light. I will be home next week nad will post some pictures.

Spent a couple of hours walking around town yesterday, trying out the new kit. Definitely very happy with the reach and versatility of this lens. The out-of-focus areas don't always look that nice (the foreground branch in the 1st starling pic stands out as blotchy and weird-looking to me), and I'm very happy Lightroom is great at removing CA, but all in all, this lens seems to be great as a walk-around, do-(almost-)everything lens. Colors look good, in-focus areas are pin sharp, focusing is fast and accurate enough to catch birds moving rather quickly (I was more of a problem there, for sure!). Definitely happy I went with this rather than the Sigma C 17-70 I was considering, especially now that my tele zoom is being serviced.

Most pics are a bit cropped, tone curve and noise reduction adjusted to taste.

Also ran into an old man who exclaimed "Oh, you're a Pentax user too!" after asking me what lens I was using. He told me he had just bought a K-1 to use with his 30-ish-year-old high speed primes. We might not be the biggest user base out there, but apparently Pentax people stick around :P

I have both lenses - DA 18-135 and Sigma 17-70 C. And the 18-135 is definitely the better and more versatile lens. The Sigma 17-70 is still a good lens and it spends most of its time on my K10D whereas the 18-135 is almost glued onto my K-3.

I have posted these elsewhere, but I think they are worth posting on this thread.
No prep for this series; see bird, wind 18-135 out to 135, shoot shoot shoot. (Then crop crop crop!!)

Forgive me Norm, but I had to check the EXIF to make sure these were all taken with the 18-135. The dark browns and the mist give these photos a great ambience.
