i just sold 40mm HD and 70mm HD and right now i'm thinking about "meaning of life"
those two limited primes maybe hell-yeah-sharp for me to be drooling over table but i found they also "limited" my photography as well, in...a lot of circumstances
hmm...maybe i should feel regret for wasting money, i supposed invest into something else

now i returned 18-135, the revelation has never been much clearer than before

It's the old prime v zoom question. I love primes, but to me they have to bring something extra to be worth swapping out the zoom. The extra could be smaller size, lighter weight, faster aperture, better colours, better resolution, better microcontrast, better bokeh, a dreamy quality, a 3D effect or whatever. But it has to be something in exchange for less versatility. Modern zooms have improved so much that the trade-off isn't there as often as it used to be. The 18-135 is a case in point.

Do you mean you got rid of the 18-135 or you have come back to it?

i totally come back 18-135 and really enjoy using it "superior quality" isn't my concern anymore, i mostly upload my photo to social website so what matter the most now for me is the content of the photos!

didn't mean i not going to get any new len, i have plan starting my architecture photo service so i gonna aim for wide len, maybe 15mm

btw, 18-135 is also work quite effectively for shooting wedding, event where cilent just want "hey, did you get photos?"

Great to hear that. We do spend a lot of time worrying about differences that don't even show up in small sizes for web viewing.

Would be good if you could share some of your wedding photos (that is, if the clients wouldn't mind). We don't get enough people shots in this thread.

That is magnificent. I have never seen a frog that colour. TFS.

Went for a beach walk at Walkerville and a storm rolled in, with some lightning. Didn't have my tripod, so I went for a wide angle and the longest exposure I thought I could manage handheld, 1/4th second. Fired a series of about 10 or 12 shots before I got lucky. Bingo! K-S2 and DA 18-135. (X-posted from the bad weather thread)

This is from a few years back. It's a heavy crop taken with a K50 and the 18-135 WR.

The thread was started to show the versatility of the lens. Here is another macro... The Exif was stripped by LR on exporting, but it was with the K5 at 135mm 1/1500, ISO 200 f/5.6

Stairway to heaven, Westernport bay, Victoria. KP + DA 18-135. This was my first pixel shift image with my new KP.

This image and the lightning strike (post #2711 above), both taken in late January, were my first images to hit Explore on Flickr. They were in Explore on the same day. Chalk that up to the 18-135.

I might have used up my photography luck for the year.
