Have you tried it? I ignored it for ages then realised it has been designed for sunsets and sunrises. It really brings out the other colours.
I'll try it next time round, so thanks for the tip.

Skiing with my wife today. Snow is pretty thin but it is early and it was nice to be out again.

You might not know that there is a separate samples thread for images from the DA 18-135: Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm - PentaxForums.com. It's been in abeyance for some years now, but I have just revived it. The aim is to help anyone considering getting the 18-135 who might be daunted by the size of this thread, which now runs to more than 3500 posts. I'd suggest you put together a selection of your best images with the 18-135 and x-post them there. This will be helpful to those interested in the lens and will gives regulars here a chance to showcase some of their best work. (And there is some mighty fine work buried here.)

While that one contains some fine pictures, I didn't know it even existed and it is dwarfed by this one. I would let it sleep, or both will be watered down.

I understand your concern Kevin, but the samples thread has ceased to be useful as a showcase for images with the 18-135, due to inactivity. This thread serves as a means of showing a lot of good everyday images, as well as the real standouts - it's too big now to serve as a samples thread. There's a place for both, and neither need water down the other. I'm just suggesting some VERY JUDICIOUS cross-posting of carefully selected images to the samples thread. You've got some crackers here!!

Wouldn't it make more sense to encourage people to write a lens review and top that off with some of their very best shots?

Sure, Hans, but they are not inconsistent. If you have the time and inclination to write a review, great. The sample threads are an important PF resource too, so people can look at images and judge for themselves. Popular lenses like the DA 18-135 should be properly represented - sample threads are not just for those chasing one of the 7 surviving copies of a lens produced at a factory in East Germany for 6 months in 1973.

There are active parallel sample threads and lens clubs or lens-specific threads for a number of other popular lenses, like the DA 35, DA 20-40 Ltd, DA 16-85 and DA 55-300 PLM, just to mention a few. See this index: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/130-lens-sample-photo-archive/406974-abo...s-section.html

Thanks for the compliment, I suppose it could work, we need to keep it in mind when ever we get a good shot.

The comment about the 7 surviving copies mde me smile. I'll think about some images I like a lot and some that I don't with this lens and post them over there (I didn't even know about that lens sample thread, actually).
