Thank you. Also, generally with minimal processing, but I do use a polarising filter most of the time. I have the camera set on "vibrant" for jpegs as this seems to best reflect how I see colours. I shoot RAW+ so if I need to make greater adjustments I can work with the RAW file.
There's a thought, combine the polarizing filter with the flash or sun with icy foliage. I think with backlighting it could be quite interesting. I'll have to find my polarizers...

Nice shots. Love the one of the spider lurking in the plant. (think it was a spider anyway).
If I am going out with just one lens, the 18-135 is it.
A little jumping spider. Well, not SO little. I've got some great shots of a green lynx spider unprocessed from last year, too. I have promised to get more images of spiders this year, I often kind of ignore them a little. Particularly the big orb weavers, which I'm mostly concerned with when walking through their webs in the dark...

K-3 and DA 18-135
I didn't pay attention o my settings, which ended up being ISO 400 and 1/8000s, I'm not sure I've ever shot at 1/8000s before in my life.

On the way home there's a ridge where you can see Manitou Mountain, 30-40 clicks away. Yesterday Manitou was like it was a km away it was so clear.

Hi Norm
Sounds wonderful.
We are lacking in mountains and snow , crisp mornings occur sometimes.

Lovely shots Norm
These cracking images are a prime example of why I shake my head when people dismiss this lens. Mine is wonderful and these pictures are sharp and colourful! Honestly, what's not to love?

It's a peer pressure thing. A few people make an observation, more people pile on. We have exactly zero comparison images showing why people don't like this lens. Just test chart commentary. Which is ridiculous given that this is a "Lens for the way people take pictures, not for the test charts" lens. Most just look at the test charts and decide it's a bad lens without ever taking an image with it. Others are so influenced by their peers they can't even take an unbiased look at them. Every lens has strengths and weaknesses. Like every other lens it has weaknesses, but it's awesome at what it does well. Some want to judge it by i's weaknesses, other by what it does well.

The assumption that test chart performance leads to better pictures is completely unsubstantiated.

I couldn't agree more. I often wonder if these users bother to calibrate the lens. I do that with every one before first use and it can make a huge difference. I also find, when I am doing a sic it takes three or four days with a new lens before the magic happens. The 18-135 delivers tremendous results. The colours and contrasts are nice. it is plenty sharp enough for general use and is capable of delivering superb images. I will never sell mine because it is the perfect companion for when I go out with no plan other than to carry a camera and see what I get.
