I didn't realize this lens had such a popular following. I'm certainly a fan. So many great shots.

It has a great following among people who are active... I carried my whole camera bag on my walk, 7 Km, DA*60-250, Sigma 8-16, Sigma 70 macro, 21ltd, and 1.4 TC, and never felt the urge to take the lens off the camera. But I'm sure I built up the legs muscles with all that weight.

It's my favorite Swiss Army Knife type of lens, pretty good and most things.

Norm, I only count 4 K-mount lenses, plus the 18-135 on the camera, so that's 5 or 6 with the TC. So why do you say 7 Km, and really not one of these is an M lens!
Oh wait, I forgot to translate the distance from Maple Leaf into Red, White & Blue

I don't know who enjoyed it more - your 2-legged companion or your 4-legged friends, but the pics are all gorgeous (per usual). I must remember to take the 18-135 out in good weather more often! it's normally my go-to security blanket for wet weather only.

Its a much better lens than that. Every now and then I think "this is an image I could sell," and I take it off the camera and go for broke, but honestly, I often can't tell the difference between a print made with the 18-135 and one taken with a prime. For landscape, from 20-50mm, you're really not gaining anything. And for snapshots, to be displayed on the web, you just don't need any better. You can use better but reduced to web size, they look the same.

When I'm flipping through the images in Aperture, I have to watch the Info tab, to know where I changed lenses.

Great shots, Norm, not a surprise... The 2nd to last is OUTSTANDING The dawgs' expression, the ears, the framing and colors, all of it put together really makes it a wall-hanger... Two thumbs-up!

YOu have nailed it!
Just colours are bit diffrent. I took shots of a car with 3 lenses with manual WB and each shot has a bit different colours...18-135 has nice ones Tamron 17-50 has a bit deeper colours than 18-135 while 18-135 is "nicer" from JPEGs. I may post a sample.

It seems to me that the difference in depth of field from f2.8 to f4.5 is making the colours look slightly different, so that the DA 40 and Tamron pictures are more alike than the DA 18-135. My eyesight isn't perfect, so perhaps this is an optical illusion.

With 5 days of rain forecast we figured we better find a place to walk yesterday as well. We went looking for an old derelict Ranger cabin that was apposed to be up near Aylen lake.

The day before.. layered clouds... on the way to Madawaska..

Rocks and Aspen

Opeongo River

Aylen Lake Access and Dock

Beaver Ponds

Tia came on an old wolf kill, probably a young moose from the size of the bones....

Her prize... she walked around on twinkle toes avoiding the other dogs.

The area where the old cabin was supposed to be.

I never would have found it if someone hadn't GPS'd it. Using the GPS and walking towards it, I didn't see it until I was 20 feet from it. It's got big tress growing right out of the middle of it.

Its distressing how much these pictures lose being jpeged and uploaded to Photobucket. The tree to the right of the dock on the Aylen Lake image is flaming yellow, not washed out white and the saturation in many images is reduced almost beyond recognition. Oh well, better than nothing.
