Amazing photos! I have just started with my K-50 and already want to drop the money on a DA 18-135 WR

A bit cliché, I know, but I do like sunsets. And so does the 18-135, I think

This was one of the first shots I took with the lens when I got it. The trees are over 450 yards away. I was shooting to test the lens sharpness and clarity at various ranges while in AF mode. I was impressed then and I still am. The DSLR I used was my trusty K20D. Lens set at 135mm.

This is 100% crop.

Unfortunately, you can't control the weather or the hours of daylight. After skiing at Lake Louise on January 2nd, a dull, snowy day even in the early afternoon, we went to Lake Louise Village to walk around before dinner. I didn't change my time zone settings to MST, so these photos were actually taken at 5:09 and 5:15 in the afternoon.

This is naturally occurring glare that was actually much worse to the naked eye (photo underexposed by 1 stop and then the shadows were boosted in PP) , and the two "sun dogs" on opposite sides of the sun are refractions from all the ice crystals in the air. The sun is rising behind the Evraz steel mill in Regina, Saskatchewan.

I have seen sun dogs quite often the last few days around Swift Current. Was that you that posted a pic like this on Sask scenery facebook page?

It wasn't me. I've never visited that Facebook page; was it a similar photo or the identical photo? Not that I care about copyright when no one is going to make any money from it, and with the blowing snow and low angle of the sun, it wouldn't be hard to get unique photos of sun dogs in the past week.

After posting the other day about being underwhelmed with this lens, the dogs and I went walking. Dog #3 didn't want to model, but the other two kindly obliged and I *love* the results!

That's wonderful.

Forgive my slowness, but... what? I have no idea what this means lol. (It's 4am, 2hrs from the end of a 12hr night shift at work, so the brain isn't functioning at 100% )

I doubt it was the same picture. I just happen to notice a few pics of sun dogs on that site too. You should check it out there are a lot of great pics from around our province.

"Swissie" = the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.
