One from a few years back. It was still raining as the foul weather retreated to let the sun through once more.

A nice subtle bokeh taken with my K3-II and 18-135mm.

A beach shot from January. Taken at ISO 100 and played with in Lightroom. I like both versions, so thought I'd share both.

Very cool photo, the contrast between the dark sea and skies and the blue skies and bright rays is phenomenal!

Nice, calming shot. I like the many colours of the pebbles.

I took this picture more than a year ago, but just recently made it my desktop wallpaper. For a 7.5x consumer zoom on an entry level DSLR, I can't complain about the detail, clarity and dynamic range I get.

Taken at Walnut Canyon National Monument in Arizona.

The SMC 18-135 is on the 2016 Pentax K-mount lens roadmap, still, and this rumor keeps coming out that the lens is "discontinued". Where did you get that information, a sales page on Amazon or eBay?

Admittedly companies do make strange decisions about popular products, however I doubt the design of the 18-135 is going to leave Pentax's line of lenses anytime in the next few years. If there is any change it will be as suggested by AldaCZ, a switch from SMC to HD coating. At some point it will be uneconomical to continue SMC when most other production lenses are using the newer HD.

If you take a scan of prices for the 18-135, it is readily apparent there is plenty of new stock of the SMC model and the price has not fluctuated significantly from just below US$400 for some time.

For some reason there's a pile of DA 16-85 shooters who think it should be gone already.

They seem to hate it that there's a viable choice between the 18-135 and their "baby", and that some might actually buy the 18-135 despite their protests.

In some cases it's comical. If guy came into the forum asking about a 135mm lens, they wouldn't try and sell him an 85 would they? The difference is pretty clear.

And would anyone ever say, "Just shoot with the 85mm lens and crop to a 135 FoV, the image will be just as good.

You hang around the forum long enough you hear some weird stuff.

What a pathetic post from someone who obviously has a big chip on his shoulder

If he's not just a little bit obsessed with the 16-85 why even mention it here?

I expect he'll now threaten me with violence again

Hopefully the past couple posts are just in fun, but I'm going to try to avoid a flame war here. Norm is a big contributor to this forum's content and I suspect makes a Looney, Twoney (CA $1 & $2 coins) or three from his photos as part of his income. The vast number of his posts are taken with the 18-135. His spouse seems to favor the 18-250 for her Pentax body as I recall. And I know there is a friendly rivalry there.

Regardless, based on my own text conversations with Norm, his post was just a gentle tease, not to be taken too seriously. We all have our favorite glass, but in the end what we appreciate more is what people do with that glass.

A good example of what that lens is capable of.
