DA 18-135 WR, Show us what it can do

Here are a couple shots from the most recent "husky huddle" gathering. It's an informal group on Facebook, in multiple cities. Organizers find dog parks and we all bring our huskies and malamutes - and some other dogs. Once in a while a few friends get back together and zoom around like maniacs. The 18-138 is my lens of choice, and back-button focusing seems to do really well. The black husky on the left is our 2yr old boy, Kato. The copper in the middle is a clown.

I shot a lot with my 18-135 today at a mountain bike race. There were threats of rain but it only threatened.

got off late from work on friday night and had my camera bag and tripod with me so I thought id capture a long exposure shot from the bridge overlooking the roundabout.

Nice starbursts! I don't think I've ever tried it with this lens.

Just noticed this thread, so thought I would add a few of my photos with this lens. Its a very handy lens in NZ where weather can be quite changeable.

Not sure if I ever put this one up here? Probably have but here it is again anyway. This is a 3 shot stitched panorama with each shot being 2 exposures blended together. At 100mm and not sure of what aperture? Somewhere along the line the exif has been altered to read f40 which obviously isn't correct. Probably somewhere north of f11 from memory. This site is extremely well lit up and the light pollution from it can be seen from miles away. Subsequently with this and all the other major industries around town we basically cannot see any stars on a clear night.

Just another example of how soft this lens is at 135mm.

Okay, my Tamron 90mm DI Macro is sharper, but nowhere near as versatile. Corrected for CA according to the built-in lens profile in LR, no other post-processing. At 1:1 the reflections in the foam were sharper with the Tamron, but it's not like I'm going to frame this and put it on the wall.

A 7.5X zoom against a prime? Not even in the same league.Although in my opinion, the 18-135 is hardly a soft lens. The photo below is in my gallery. This was taken from behind the center field fence, maximum aperture, handheld at 135mm AND significantly cropped. I'm pretty sure much of the softness was due to camera shake.

I agree wholeheartedly. My photography used to be slide film and even professional scans of my most in focus shots can't match the 18-135 for detail and sharpness. The Tamron is considered to be a very sharp lens, and it still takes close examination to notice a difference. There is also a subtle difference in colour rendition, and the Tamrom has a faster aperture, so there are occasions where I will use it for non-macro shots, but in general the 18-135 is a great lens for $500. The DC autofocus motor is much better than phszt, phszt, in both speed and sound level.

My 18-135 is softer than my Tamron 28-75/2.8 for sure but it's usually sharp enough.

I took mine out tonight in some unsettled weather. Nice not to worry about a little rain if I get caught by a squall. Saw some interesting wildlife!

Wildflowers are in bloom around the trails.

My son and I had a nice ride yesterday near Crested Butte. The weather looked like it might be a factor so I brought the 18-135 on my K-3.
We did hit some weather and got rained on some, so the WR lens was probably a good choice. The boy rode well!
