One more. I've been playing with the Bleach Bypass filter in Color Efx Pro and I like it for some of these snow scenes.
Great shot. Got a chance to ski Silverton a few years ago, it was an amazing experience.

Thanks, I try to go there at least once a season while it's open to unguided skiing and cheap! It's close enough for a day trip.
I love it there but have also had some really terrible snow conditions in leaner years. Days like Saturday make up for those.

I made an Instagram out of that shot and VisitColorado reposted it (with permission).

The crop in instagram photo works better to me.

Thanks, I was unsure. After I uploaded it I wished I left a little more room on the left in the crop, but people seem to like it so maybe I'm over analyzing it (I do that sometimes).

Lol. It's my son's 60d and yes it was just there so we could fit in with the rest of the tourists and their canikons. I didn't see one other pentax camera during the whole trip. My K5II did all the heavy lifting.

This after noon was our last walk of the year.... so I took the camera... Tess took us down into he wetlands, that are now frozen up pretty solid. You could probably skate through them... slowly

Happy new year everyone....

Ok, you have seen this image, I put this on Instagram and Silverton Mountain liked it. They put it in their contest where the shot with the most likes gets some free heli skiing.
So if you have Instagram and wouldn't mind, I'd love to go heli skiing for free and of course take more photos!
Follow the link and like on Instagram. THANKS!

Edit: I Won! Photos coming...

This thread shows some fantastic shots taken with the 18-135 mm lens. My standard lens in the 18-250 which is a little bulky and prone to zoom creep. I find, however, that although it is also sharp most of my shots fall with the 18-135 mm range. Should I sell my 18-250 and buy an 18-135 to reduce weight and, maybe, get sharper images?
U definately will want to consider it, if that is the main range you shoot in, then it will pay off to have a lens that does just that...
i highly reccomend the 18-135 to anyone. I rarely need anything longer for a "walkabout" lens

It took me a while to really like this lens. But if you need a walk around WR this is your best choice. Here's a Hummingbird I shot with the 18-135, K-30 and Sigma flash.

That's where my wife and I went on our honeymoon. Where did you stay? Really wish I had the Pentax back then but, sadly, at the time I only had a simple point and shoot. Still got some great photos but feel like I could have done a lot more. Escpecially at the cenotes.

We stayed at the Grand Paladium White Sands. Very nice resort. I was very torn about whether I should take my dslr on this trip or just a cheap point and shoot. I'm so glad I decided to lug the k5ii around! I am awaiting a K3 to show up and really wish I had pulled the trigger before we went but I'm pretty happy with these pics regardless.

It has been a while since I posted something on the forums, so here some shots from the perfect hiking lens, the 18-135.
All taken on K5iis during a hiking trip to the "Großer Bösenstein" around the corner in Austria.
