Thankyou, at first I didn't like this one at all. My shutter speed was too slow to stop him, only 1/100. It was not until I saw it on the monitor that I liked it. The only reason his head is in focus is because he was staring me down.

Overall, i love this lens. here are two shots of the same subject, one at 18mm, the other 135mm. Just to show the extremes of what it can do...

Matt, the S2 is the next body I'll be getting. It looks like it does a great job. Also you're pushing me to pickup the 18-135, for landscapes!

This week I was privileged to join an Honor Flight from Phoenix to DC as a guardian for a WWII veteran. You can find out more about it at honorflightaz.org. This organization flies WWII vets to see their memorials in Washington at no charge to them; guardians fly at their own expense. While there, I took a number of pictures with my K-3 and the 18-135WR lens as my only lens. I like to travel light, so in a camera pouch, I had the camera/lens, 2 extra batteries, a lens cloth and the GPS module (which I never had time to employ). There were 27 WWII vets, flown on Southwest Airlines. The average age of a WWII vet is now 93 years; they are passing away at the rate of 1500 a day now. For many of these men and women of the Greatest Generation, this will be their one and only chance to view the monuments and memorials in DC.

Here are just a few of the over 400 pictures I took on the trip. Hope you enjoy them. In the pictures, the vets wear yellow T-shirts, their guardians wear sky-blue.

John

Fort McHenry - Francis Scott Key wrote about it - the War of 1812. The cannons still stand and the flag yet waves.
