Very impressive detail! Once again, the magnificent 18mm-135mm "Kit lens" shines! Quite possibly my favorite lens.
Thanks Dewman. I wouldn't say it's my favourite lens (the FA 77, DFA 100 and FA*300 each produce more knockout shots), but the 18-135 does a lot of things well, without being bland (as zooms can be). It's got character - and you know it's a Pentax.

I never found the Esmeralda; don't know where they hid a 400-foot four-masted ship but it wasn't at any of the piers in town or at Pearl Harbor.
The Chilean Navy must know a lot about camouflage. ;-) Loving your B&W shots Weldon. It's a very different take.

Maybe "most used" would be more apropos.

Sure, me too, I think. But we're both saying it's more than that. With this lens, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Yeah, a four-master with stealth technology Thanks for the kind words, Des. They're not to everybody's taste but I really enjoy working on them.

Used this lens most of the time on holiday, only broke the 55-300 out for the whale watching. Definitely handles great in full daylight but I kinda like the early morning shot ...

That's what the 21 ltd and 40 XS are for. They take no room, and fit in a pocket.

This is a pretty good "what it can do" example I think. Shot at 135mm with the popup flash at -3, mid-afternoon from maybe eight feet away with a dark-colored car about that same distance behind the cat. With the rapid drop off from the flash and the lens wide open and zoomed all the way in, what there was of the car in the picture basically disappeared. I took the background down some more to make the car go away completely when I did the black and white conversion, but it's 98% the product of the lens and the flash setting--you really had to strain to see the car bumper in the RAW file. The cat (cross-posted from K-3 thread) was in the parking lot outside the grounds of the Buddhist temple in the second shot.

This is the ceiling of the rotunda at the New Mexico state capitol building in Santa Fe. I thought it made a nice abstract subject. Taken with the K-3 and the 18-135.

Very cool... the worst thing about the forum and best things is, you see images from all over the world, but you can't necessarily go sir them yourself.
