Southwest Tasmania is a remote wilderness area, accessible only by boating the dangerous waters of the Southern Ocean, or by difficult multi-day hikes, or by air. We went for the latter last year - a spectacular flight from Hobart along the southern coast, landing at an airstrip miles from anywhere. The flight is used by hikers for access or food drops at the beginning or ending of either the difficult 6-8 day South Coast Track from the east or another challenging 5-day track, the Port Davey Track from the north.
Here's a couple of shots from the flight to Melaleuca from Hobart. The 18-135 was ideal for this. (The perspex windows of the plane made for some distortion and reflections, but never mind.)
