Thanks, it's been nice here. This was from tonight's ride from the house.

BTW what I've done sometimes is fix the spot, upload the fixed version to Flickr,
I was leaning towards totally deleteing the image. Makes me cringe, but I like your idea. I could not upload anything to flckr the past two weeks, so will wait until it works again and then follow your advice

Agree with your comment on Mike's shot

I suggest the spot fix as well. That usually saves files like yours - the uniformity of the background makes it easier to correct I think.

Sometimes I get too caught up in using the right lens and forget about about techniques to make the most out of the lens on my camera. The DA 18-135 is neither fast or known for smooth bokeh, but by taking advantage of a longer focal length, a short minimum focus distance and putting some distance between the subject and a darker background I was able to get this at f5.6. The DOF is about one inch.

I miscalculated (wild guess, actually) the hyperfocal distance at f8, so the front of the board is now out of focus, but you can see how a little more DOF affects my image.

The board with 20 screws in it is only 35 inches long. The divorcee down the street hired me to rebuild her wooden fence and gate that was falling apart. Her ex, "Stan" had screwed this board to the gate a few years back to stiffen it up. I was going to ask my client if her ex's enthusiasm for screwing boards was connected to the change in their marital status, but thought better of it.

Wyatte’s Forelegs and two of his favorite things, mud and a tennis ball.

My usual two body 3 lens kit includes the 16-85 on the K-3II and 55-300PLM on the K-70 and an UWA zoom or a true macro in reserve but I’m deeply infatuated with my DA*300. So lately it’s been living on one body and I’m toting the 18-135 on the other to fill in the gap between 85 and 300 and give me near subject capability.

Town trees are finally in bloom about three weeks late this year. Last year they bloomed a couple of weeks early!

I am looking at the second photo with the "Yield to pedestrians" signs and wondering how risky it was to stand in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic to take this picture.

Not too bad right here. I was in a crosswalk in the middle turning lane. I tried to be quick but a couple of cars stopped for me even though I was trying to wave them by. It's a small town.

I guess that wouldn't work in Boston, eh?

Probably not!
I grabbed another yesterday just standing in the middle of the street but on the less traveled end of Main.

"Festival of Colors" in the small, tourist town of Ocean Shores, Washington coincides with the American holiday of Flag Day. Many people and many kites on the beach!

Interesting making a comparison between the first kite picture at 40mm (with kites far away) and the last one at 135mm (where the kites look like they are much closer together and flying just above the parked vehicles).
