Great pictures, and I always find lighthouses impressive for their simplicity and resilience. These things just last and last...

I haven't used 18-135 in years, but acquired K3 recently and wanted to test 18-135 on it.

I've been using my 18-135 quite a bit in the blind as it's much quieter than my other auto lenses. I did crop this a bit but even 1:1 looked pretty sharp despite the low light.
K50d - 800iso -1/25s 110mm(18-135)

Nice capture! The 18-135 is quite a capable lens when used within it's limitations. Thanks for sharing.
Best.

Best.
I find it remarkably lacking in limitations.

I would have to agree with that.

Same here. It's my most used lens on hiking holidays and it hardly ever disappoints.

Lovely shot Jim... and LOL the same exact place!

It was off the side of the road somewhere on the Willow City Loop as well, just this past April, maybe we there at the same time. It was a stunning wildflower show overall in the Hill Country this year.

The 18-135 is constantly on my K-50 and if I had to do with just one lens, this would be it.

Maybe we were. Did you almost run me over when I was shooting alongside the road, or did I almost run you over?
A thumbs up for Harry's On The Loop. It is the greatest little dive bar to pull over for a cold one. Most of the parking area is covered a few layers deep with flattened bottle caps as opposed to gravel. The bouncer is a big yellow lab. Smile and give him a nice pat and he'll let you enter the bar.

We winter near Johnson City and I agree last spring was spectacular all over.

Some DA 18-135 pictures from my 2018 trip to Peru

I did not use much my Pentax gear since this 2018 trip to Peru.
That was the last time K3+DA 18+135 has been my main camera when traveling abroad:

I now rather use my M43 gear when traveling: 3 bodies (GX8, G7 and GM5), 3 f3.5-5.6 zooms (12-32, 12-60 and 14-140), the tiny 35-100 f4-5.6 and 3 f1.7 primes (20, 25 and 42.5).

My K3 gets still some use when photography is the main purpose, but when traveling with my new girlfriend, my Pentax gear is just too big and heavy. I have also enjoyed the odd angles framing that mirrorless allows, be it from low or ground level or above my head when in a crowd, or in museums.

Yet, after now 2 years using mainly M43, I admit that the Pentax overall rendering, contrast and dynamic range is better, and the DA 18-135 checks these points: I can use my Pentax out of camera JPEGs with minimum post processing, whereas my M43 photography needs more post-processing, more often discarding the OOC JPEG and developing the RAW file to get the kind of 3D pop I get directly from OOC Pentax JPEG.

I hope Pentax will add a mirrorless light camera body to its offering, next year or in 2021.
