I haven't posted here for a while, but I'm still using this lens as my go-to. I picked up a 62mm polarizing filter some time ago, while I don't put it on my 18-135 very often, it does help in some situations.

I was out in a canoe today and my camera and lens lay in the bottom, getting splashed from time to time, but with no effect on their effectiveness.

The next shot is one of those situations where I was out trying to get photos of something else (cityscapes) and when odd cloud formations with a rising moon appeared, I didn't have to stop to change lenses.

The 18-135 is quite a bit better than some would think. I always love seeing what people can make from it.

I've never really totally loved my KS-2, but I do really like the 18-135 that came with it.

Here's an example of the 18 - 135 as a birding lens... OK, I may have cheated a bit on this one, but here's an image of a juvenile Barnowl in out barn. We had to take it out for ringing and thus I was able to take this closeup.
Fine image of a beautiful bird. The only time I have seen a barn owl up close was when I had the very sad experience of having to remove one from a road - it had been hit by a car and killed. It seemed to me the most beautiful creature I had ever seen.

Yes, they're absolutely amazing: the litte feathers at the wing edges that keep them perfectly quiet when they fly; the one ear just a bit higher than the other so that they can use their hearing to locate prey and the nails! We're really happy with them, even with the fallow balls they leave behind.

Hi All, I haven't posted in this thread for some time! I ordered some new "Star Filters" and thought as my walk around lens seems to be the 18-135 I would test the 6 star out!
PP in PhotoDirector11 and uploaded here as well as on Flickr!

If I want to go wide (my next widest lens is the super tak 28/3.5), the 18 - 135 just can't be beaten. It even works nicely for astro.

Out on my bike last night I thought I might need the WR feature but it never rained on me more than a few drops.

IMO, if you like being out on sunny days, a CPL is a must have. I wish I'd remembered to bring one when I was out and about this past week. Anyway, I tried out the DA 18-135mm WR on the K-1, and the results please me very much. Enough so that I am not in a hurry to replace this lens with the DFA 28-105mm in order to have a walk-around lens for the K-1 that will allow me to face any weather. I'll post some landscapes later, but I wanted to show off some more versatile uses of this great lens.

At approximately what focal length does vignette become noticeable when this lens is mounted on the K-1 - or are you using the K-1's 3/4 crop function to avoid it?

Is it just my imagination, or does this shot at 21mm show more barrel distortion (and look wider, regardless of cropping) than it would if taken with an APS-C camera?
