Found some good ice down in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison on Saturday. Long hike and cold temps but a great day!
To travel light I carried the K-3 and 18-135 and Rokinon 8mm fisheye. Seemed to work out ok!

Wow, lovely image, great ice and the idea that it was a cold and long hike to get there only adds to the image. Now for some freezing over here.....

Here's the closest we get to some ice: a nice cold morning and about 1 centimeter of ice.

Lovely shots! I like the mood and lighting in the second one especially. I feel like I'm there.

Hey, I think I saw those two Canada Geese in one of our fields a couple of days ago.

Hey, I think I saw those two Canada Geese in one of our fields a couple of days ago.

(My 'puter is playing up at the mo, and I can't quote direct on my phone.)

Those pesky geese beat the place and are always out of range when I hear them. This time I walked past their flood plain habitat, heard them and got just two shots off, this was the first one and my 8 year old copy nailed them. I was nice to get out for a while.

It's great to be in the right place when they're heard!

As a side note -- Ottawa happens to be located along one of the major flyways. So, every fall, we're treated to large numbers of migrating Canada Geese heading south. This year, they seemed to be flying a bit late in the year, well into November and early December. Coincidentally, our real winter started late and has been exceptionally soft so far. Each spring, the first honks are sure to bring a smile to one's mind and a glance upwards to our familiar friends heading northward.

A fairly large number of geese stay in the Ottawa area during spring, summer, and fall.

We get pink footed geese here, by the thousand. They land on the lee of a hill, just by some houses. I bet the people in the houses love them

More skating today. Great ice! Another long hike to get here but worth it.

Wouldn't it make more sense to encourage people to write a lens review and top that off with some of their very best shots?
I have finally got around to doing a review: SMC Pentax-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database There have only been 20 reviews in the last 4 years, most of which are very short, so I thought it was due for a more detailed one. Many of the reviews are rather strident, one way or the other. I was trying to be balanced.

I'm glad you prompted me Hans.

Thanks very much Uwe.

It surprised me how many of the reviewers expressing the most extreme opinions (for or against) don't support them with any examples. I guess that encapsulates the problems of social media.
