Originally posted by Kevin B123 Those pesky geese beat the place and are always out of range when I hear them. This time I walked past their flood plain habitat, heard them and got just two shots off, this was the first one and my 8 year old copy nailed them. I was nice to get out for a while.
It's great to be in the right place when they're heard!
As a side note -- Ottawa happens to be located along one of the major flyways. So, every fall, we're treated to large numbers of migrating Canada Geese heading south. This year, they seemed to be flying a bit late in the year, well into November and early December. Coincidentally, our real winter started late and has been exceptionally soft so far. Each spring, the first honks are sure to bring a smile to one's mind and a glance upwards to our familiar friends heading northward.
A fairly large number of geese stay in the Ottawa area during spring, summer, and fall.
