Thanks HoutHans. JimJohmson I do not like to abuse my camera in these conditions ( I am sure that the zoom mechanism will let in some grit ) and really try to protect the camera and lens even in the wind shadow of my vehicle or myself and do the lens changes inside a protected place, but I appreciate the fact that I can shoot in these conditions, because it is very striking and I do not want to be limited. My wife's superzoom ingested some sand and that was it. The camera was covered in blown sand around the mode dials since it was a multi day trip into the desert with wind everywhere and if the WR help with that IO am very happy. I do not use a filter, but will try not to shoot into the blowing sand. I will probably use a filter when I shoot into salty spray. I have a great plan about an upcoming trip, but you have to shoot into the wind near breaking waves
