It is around the diameter of a beach ball and is wild on some BLM land. They are fairly common in the high desert zone here but usually just in small clusters around rock outcroppings.
Only the south facing side gets covered in those flowers.
It just happened to catch my eye last year in a pretty remote spot and now it's something I like to visit now and then.
