Holy crap!

I scored one of these, in minty shape for $50!!!

SMC Pentax-DA 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 Fish-Eye ED [IF] Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

It's a nice older lady who's selling it just because she doesn't like fisheye-style pictures. Plus, her Pentax DSLR just conked on her.

I NEVER get this lucky...

At $250 the 10-17 is a steal. At $50 it's outright grand theft.

As of yesterday, I was told by the seller that it was in the mail to me, packed very securely, with tracking number, and insured for $200. And I sent her a money order for $70 ($50 + $20 shipping.) Should be here Friday.

As for the backstory, it was a gift from her ex-husband, and she just wanted it gone. Before she put it up for sale, a local pawnshop offered her $4 for it.

So... we'll see what happens. I figured it was worth a gamble. She seemed very genuine on the phone, so I'm somewhat hopeful (but still skeptical.) Provided it's not a box with a rock in it or something, I'll post pics, etc. if & when I get it.

I hope it is on the level, because after looking at the reviews & shots others have taken with it, I think I will use it a lot! Looks like a fun lens.
