That one look like a nice macro lens. i agree about "over the top" pricing. for a few buck more they could be in for a beautiful, autofocus, new Siggy 105mm with appropriate coating for digital and all the fixing. Looking at the aperture blades that jaded, i predict it would have weird bokeh at lower f stop.

Another nice one:

EXCELLENT OBJECTIF SMC PENTAX - A 50 mm 1:2 n: 3190058 bei eBay.de: Objectifs, Zooms (endet 05.01.08 22:40:46 MEZ)

An A50/2 for 131 Euro.
(normal price about 20-30 Euro)

This happens from time to time, probably because some are dreaming of an A50/1.2.

What startles me is what the Asian market is paying for lenses. I recently had a find and buy at an estate sale (some call it a Tag sale). This lens sold through an outside seller who is a specialist in this area. For a mere $3,890.00 less commission and fees I cleared $3,485 and that check cleared the bank a few weeks ago. (Do you want to talk about worried and trust?)

The european ebay is a very strange place. I saw a lot of auctions on prime lenses (cheap lenses if you ask me) completely messed up because of some crazy bidders. Of course all I can say is lucky seller.

So far the french ebay seems to be the best place to get a high price for cheap products.

Man, that is crazy... If I'm not mistaken that's the same lens as the Panagor 90mm macro, which I saw for for like 30 bucks a few weeks ago

EU ebay is a bit more expensive than the US one, true. Mostly because of the huge difference in availability of certain lenses in different countries around Europe. Postage quotes differ a lot too...

Too bad that importing from the US gets us screwed over with an extra 21%

Tom

The quotes are lower inside EU, you can save up to 10-15$ (euro equivalent). But, hell yeah, here in Romania I'm charged about 25% extra - meaning VAT + customs. The same as from US or any other place in the world.

Well...it is free for companies. As a regular person I have to pay taxes, especially when the goods come with an invoice. However I have a 45 euro allowance for which I don't have to pay taxes.

Well that's really strange!
I have (Slovenia) 170€ allowance from US and other 3rd countries, but it has to be the shippment from a regular person. If it is from a company, there is only 45€ of free shippment. So the last part is the same as in Romania, but only from 3rd countries.
As for companies: They don't pay VAT in other EU country, but they have to pay it in Slovenia. As a person, you pay VAT to other EU country from which you are purchasing the goods. And there are no other customs or taxes any more. That's the whole idea of EU!

Are you sure about that? Did you check it twice?

Aaaahhhhh ... you make me feel so much better

Actually they were wanted earlier but have become less favoured as I graduate up the LBA ladder. And I don't have enough time to use them all ... not like someone who can knock off early to go watch tennis

The 170 euro allowance applies only when you came back from US (as a tourist or smth else), it doesn't apply to shipped goods.

Regarding the taxes from EU, I just called the customs and they told me there are zero taxes. So I missunderstood from the first time, although the rules are clear.

I must be wrong, but is it not that Elicar a rebadge of the Vivitar/Tokina 90 2.5?. If it so I know a lot of people who would bid highly for one of them in Pentax mount.

Sorry, you are right, 170€ is a passenger allowance.
45€ is for private shipments, and 25€ is for shipments made by companies.

And the EU: I knew it was almost impossible, you would have different regulations as the rest of EU countries. So enjoy buying in the EU!
