Maybe not this week but at some time the free market will decide what the actual retail pricing will be. Pentax just has to balancing keeping the price for the retailers fair and sell products. If no one buys at the new price the price will fall to a point where people will start buying.

OMG, we all LIKE each other!

Seriously, though, it's good that there were a couple of cooler heads around to sustain those of us who had grown rather upset and/or depressed over the price increases. Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day for us Pentax users... although I still maintain that Ricoh/Pentax really need to improve the QC, distribution network and support network before any kind of price increase.

Did you know that even the lowliest Nikon AF lens comes with a 5 year warranty?

Before we draw too many conclusions, let's wait until the weekend ends and people get a chance to get back into the office and post the real new prices. There's no way Pentax will be able to sell, say, the 16-50mm for $1500 when the (superior) Sigma equivalent is only $650.

Well, sigma seems to be on the ball, the 70-200 2.8 HSM OS FLD now has a $100 instant rebate which puts it at $1,299 (pretty sure it was showing $1,399 on Friday). This extra $100 off is a deal maker for me, for what I have been reading (across all channels PenCanNik) it seems this is the lens to beat in this focal range...

I am from Taiwan.
After seeing the new price, I feel sad, too.
Let's tell Pentax(Ricoh) "No Way" by action.

I guess one possibility.
Adorama and B&H set their deadline of special price in the end of March 2012.
When April Fool's Day coming, all special prices are just like Cinderella, becoming original.
Right now, all we can do is to wait and see.
Wait people to get back into their office to edit "right" prices, as Adam said.

Yup, that's a great lens. I've used it and preferred it over the heavier and dated Pentax FA* 80-200mm. The IQ was up there and the AF was fast and quiet as always.

Well. B&H and Adorama prices are up. E.g., the 60-250/4 is $1999.95 now.

That could be retaliation from Adorama and B&H who want to pass a message to Ricoh

Maybe it's the time for me to dump my entire collection if FA Limited received another price hike.

My two wish lists - DA Limited with a K-5 and FA Limited went up a bit. DA Limited up 18%, but that includes a K-5 at $1,327, which is actually $1,199 at the Pentax Webstore. When's the last time the webstore was cheaper than B&H? The FA list went up 10%.
