Arca Swiss Plates for DA 300mm and Tamron 70-200

Really Right Stuff makes an Arca Swiss Plate called the B76. It fits the DA 300 F4* like it was made for it and it also works on the Tamron 70-200. It's a great universal plate that's really very useful. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up if they were looking for any of this kind of thing for these lenses...

I use a Novoflex QPL plate with video pin for my DA*300 (get the new vesion with rubber lines). The plate is almost the same size as the RRS, but I perfer a rubber to metal over a metal to metal contact. The safety pin of the RRS would be an advantage! And Novoflex uses a bright blue coloring - quite obstrusive.

My preference is for metal to metal contact, I found that having rubber permits high frequency vibrations that lead to poor sharpness in images. I spent a long time tracking this issue down in my celestron C90 scope (1000/11) and ultimately found that the tripod mount to lens had rubber body armor between (my lens came with an armored coating) I used the lens mount to outline the cutting limits, and once I removed the rubber inbetween the mount and lens the stability improved incredibly. It may not be noticeable with shorter lenses but once you get really long, anything that is not a rigid connection leads to vibration and blurry images.

In my opinion, stay with metal to metal
