Issues with Tamron 70-200mm Macro lens at 200mm f2.8, just purchased, please help!

Thanks for taking the same picture to compare your new lens to mine

. So, it does seem to be normal, especially wide open at 200mm when overexposing.

Two things you have to consider about the lens: my shot looks a little bigger (closer) thans yours. I was shooting at about 60cm distance. The Tamron has much closer focusing than any of its competitors. At 200mm, F2.8. and 60cm, we're talking about at depth of field of about 0.7mm. That is tiny! Especially on an angled subject, you'll see the OOF transition so much faster. When I get home, I'll post some examples of flat subjects and you'll see it looks good.

Also, the hood is mean to cover the wider ends, because if it covered the long end it would vignette. So the hood isn't providing you much protection at 200mm.

I was unhappy for a few days when I was using the lens on tiny flowers at 200mm and my shots were all crazy soft and blooming with CA. I was very confused because I used it at 200mm before on people and never noticed it. So after some testing, I realized that I was front focused by such a timy margin, but because the DOF is sooo small, it was enough.
