This may sound like a stupid statement, but the Zeiss ZK-mount lenses sure are terribly similar to those "made" by Voigtlander. (design-wise)

Aren't they both made by Cosina now? (if they are, that would explain the similarities)

I wonder how it compares to the zeiss 50, its a little bit longer but still very close and the price doesnt seem like its going to be that different

Uhm, no. But it's not really a Zeiss anymore.

What is notable about Ultron vs. Pentax is that Pentax always places the concave element third, whereas in the Ultron it is the second.

There's no need to be ironic. It's not a German-made Zeiss lens. It's just a re-branded Cosina. Kind of like the Chevrolet Aveo is not really a chevy. Just a re-badged Daewoo.

That doesn't mean the lenses aren't good. (with that price tag, they ought to be)
