Depends. the Pentax 50-135 is a DSLR only lens which was designed for the equivalence FF 70-200. try to multiple 50 - 135 by 1.5 and you will get 70 - 200.
However I'm with you about the competitor part. Just got the Tammy for USD630 as a refurbished one, and now----the 50-135 is like 1299 for new and around 1000 for used. I'm a amateur and not a Penax zealot, so.
