Expanding my lens collection, good buy?

There is a local ad on craigslist for an older 35mm camera and some lens's. I bought a kx a few months ago and I am ready to experiment with lenses other than the kit lens. I have offered him $100 for everything, but no response yet.

What do you all think of this? He doesn't know much about the lens's except this info:
35-70 Pentax zoom
70-210 Pentax zoom
70-210 Kiron zoom
Minolta Rokkor-x 50mm

Here are a couple of pictures:

Thank you for any help!

Ah..the 70-210 Kiron with zoom lock and focus stops. Good lens, but prone to fungus. I had one, loved it, sold it when it started to go bad. This is not in the marketplace so I'd love to comment, but I had an "infraction" last week, so I don't want to give my opinion and make someone mad at me again. I need to stay squeaky.

I did not realize that this wasn't the place for this question, should I delete my post?

The two Pentax zooms (assuming they're both F-series, thus autofocus) are worth about US$100 together. The Kiron zoom... probably not much, it depends on the aperture. The Minolta prime is useless to you. The bag and tripod are worth a few bucks each. The flash is probably one you won't want to put on your Kx because it could fry the camera's electronics -- Don't Brick The Camera!

If it was me and I didn't already have the splendid F35-70 and a tripod, I'd pay US$100 for the lot, then sell the camera, flash, bag, and Minolta lens, and maybe make back US$30-50. I'd have to know more about the Kiron before I'd know what to do with it, but it might sell for US$20-30.

That's my analysis. Your mileage may vary.

Oh, this is a fine place to ask about values. Offering these for sale would be for the Marketplace. If you'd said, "I'll sell you the Kiron for $xxx", that would be crossing the line. But asking for opinions of values is OK here.

The Pentax FA 70-210 is a consumer lens but it has very good image quality. Not going to take a beating but very good IQ.

It could be reversed easily enough to get one's feet wet with macro stuff.

For 100 bucks, I would buy it. If I'm not mistaken, the Kiron can be a different mount (possibly for Minolta as there is already a Minolta lens in that collection).

And as pointed out, the Minolta is basically useless for the Pentax system. Seeing that the other Minolta lens is an MC one, they are manual focus and will not even fit on Minolta/Sony AF cameras. If possible, try to get the Minolta camera as well as part of the $100 deal (if the seller has it).

That F (not FA) 70-210 is worth over $100 by itself, so yes the kit is easily worth your offer and by selling the other stuff off you could get your money back and effectively a free lens. I have one - it is very sharp and has fast AF (though noisy).

The F 35-70 and the F 70-210 are both worth getting. I have both and use both. The 35-70 is excellent although the focal length is a little odd on aps-c. It is very light, sharp and includes a useful close focusing ability.

The 70-210 is quite sharp, very fast to focus and a very well made lens. It is unfortunately also very heavy. But I have taken some really good shots with it.

As noted above the other stuff might not be worth much. But I would buy it in a minute, keep the two Pentax lenses and sell the rest. Especially if you don't have equivalent lenses already. The F glass is an excellent way to increase your lens stable at low cost. Possibly the best bargain remaining in Pentax glass now.

He sent me this reply:

I would sell you the Pentax camera, the two Pentax lenses, the tripod and the REI case for the zoom and another case for the camera and Macro for $125.

does that sound like a good deal? obviously I would check the lenses for fungus and what-have-you when I meet him.

I don't really NEED the camera, tripod, or cases. I asked what he would take for just the two lenses but no response yet.

Thank you everyone for all your help!

Iffy?

Hi MagicWuff,
Now it's getting marginal. The F 70-210 may be worth $100, but I've seen them go for less ($70-80) on eBay, and the F 35-70 usually sells for around $50.
So the deal is just about what you'd expect to pay elsewhere. I would offer $75 for JUST the two lenses and see what happens. It seems odd that he raised the price for fewer items.
I own the F 35-70 and it's a great little lens, one of the few bargains you can find in an autofocus, auto-aperture short zoom.
If they're both clean and the glass is unmarked, aperture rings work well, zoom and focus functions all perform normally (bring a DSLR body and test' em) , I'd go $100, tops.
JMO,
Ron

Thank you.

To be clear, I originally offered him $100 for everything but he said that it was much to low, that is when he came back with the $125 offer.

I will see what he says, Ill probably give him a call today.

Oops, you're right, F70-210. I have no idea why I added the "A". Its an F 70-210.

the 35-70 is a great lens, vastly under rated in my opinion. It's just a nice easy lens to use and the results are very satisfying.

Agreed. I would jump on it. I wouldn't sell my F70-210 for less than $150 alone, I think its that good.
