I think it was right above 750$ but it's the Swedish pricing, so it's a cheap lens here.

Wow, I'm the only one in the 101-200$ category. Thats kind of sad. Maybe its because I'm a cheap skate or maybe its a case of being in the right place at the right time. Being poor doesn't help but I wasn't so poor when I started buying dslr stuff (and there is a lot of I wish I knew then what I know now).
I lived near one of wolf cameras 2 national clearance centers before they went bankrupt that gets all the clearance stuff from all the stores nation wide. I probably spent 1000$ there on prosumer camera stuff (non dslr) over the years. I got my first dslr there about 4 years ago (brand new ist-ds kit for 275$). They had new old stock quantaray and pentax lenses for about 75% off retail. I bought a few but in hind site I really wish I would have bought some of the more expensive ones (at similar savings). I also picked up a few from tech for less when they got massive amounts of stuff from wolf cameras bankruptcy (along with a cabinet full of flashes). Again, I wish I would have got some of the more expensive better ones. At that point I still wouldn't have even known what to buy. Again I did get what I got at very cheap prices though. I have since moved but there is no where locally to get lenses so its ebay (and I have scored quite well there).

I kind of wondered if the prices in the database were realistic as every time I go to look up a lens I bought I think wow, did people really pay that much? I paid about 15-25% of that? My latest was a tamron 28-200mm xr (second to newest version most similar to the new version, not the older versions). It was in a lot with other items but if I divide the items up by retail value to determine what percentage of the price was for this, it was about 1/3 what keh sells the same version for and it is in nearly new condition (maybe 40$ shipped as opposed to 130$ shipped at keh).

I guess if I have to be poor and in the bottom rung, at least I got some hot deals....

I don't have a regret getting the DA* 300/4 for what I paid for it a little over 2 years ago. This DA* is optically sound and decently fast. However, I would NOT pay the current price especially given it only has a 1 year warranty. At least the Sigma had a decent warranty.
