Go with the F, it's cheaper because more were made than the FA series. Just like the F50 1.4 is more expensive than the FA50 1.4 for the same reason. I prefer the build quality on my F50 1.7 over my FA50 1.4(got it for real cheap, don't judge me, Damn LBA!) It is less prone to scratches (body of lens) although you have to worry about the rubber ears peeling, as with all F series lenses.

Builds and optics are equivalent. F is probably rarer than FA. Mox nix.
Just to clarify for the OP, the FA 50/1.7 is more rare than the F 50/1.7. The F 50/1.4 is more rare than the FA 50/1.4.

Looking at the DA 35 f2.4, the likelihood is that the major difference between each lens will be the quality of the mount. I'd pay the F 50 1.7 premium if you value an aperture ring.

I use an equal mix of A 1.4 and my A 1.7 and believe they are IQ equivalents, outstanding.
Since I added a K-01 to my body collection the A family fits my style best for composition, speed and accuracy (focus peaking)

Less pictures are taken while you wait, however.

The F50 and FA50 are available today. The DA50 isn't.
Quite right.

On various markets, I see the F50 f1,7 more often than the FA50 f1,4, and the latter much more often than the FA50 f1,7. The F50 f1,4 I've never seen.

The F50 f1,7 is an amazing lens, I consider it a part of my high-end line-up, along with the DA*21 and DFA 100 macro.
