The Tamron 17-50/2.8 is not quite f2.8, but I've found little exposure inconsistency. Clean the lens contacts, perhaps?

This is from last weeks extreme minus tide at Smuggler Cove on the north Oregon coast. The Tamron 17-50 @20mm. It is most definitely post processed.

Considering this lens to replace my kit too. Any chance anyone can post more pics?

I'd really appreciate it.

Holy Guacamole those are nice! Were they all taken with this lens? I'm reading the other threads on here and some folks suggest the FA 43mm to replace the kit lens. I obvioulsy lose zooming capabilities but I'm looking at that too. These pics however, are super!

Thanks, they were all taken with the Tamron, it's my favorite lens. Even though I mostly use the lens at the wide end, I like that I can zoom in without changing lenses. It's very sharp, but not quite as sharp as my Pentax A 50mm f1.7. It also suffers from back focus a little at the long end, but that can be fixed if you have a K5.

Icy Creek - Sweet

Very nice krp - especially the one of the Icy Creek - the motionless icicles on the branches in the foreground - the moving out-of-focus water behind - sweet.

One nice lens.

This is Artist's Drive in Death Valley - the Tamron 17-50 @50mm. I often switch to an A50/2.8, but light was fading quickly. Full size image can be found here: All sizes | Artists Drive II | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

If you go to my gallery at DPR you will see a small series of indoor market photos I posted when another member had some questions about the lens. IIRC they are all wide open. I also replaced my kit lens with this lens and really like it. My kit lens is now relegated to the closet.

Very nice pics. Thanks very much for sharing.

I am now deciding between (confused) between getting this zoom as opposed to a couple of primes such as the FA 43 or the 77.

Can this lens challenges pentax 16-50mm f2.8 at some point?

I love it... Not my most used lens but my 'go to' if I'm unsure as to what's going on... A proper all-rounder in the wide to short-tele focal lengths... Always always in my bag.

Received my copy today (love KEH, marked EX, and couldn't see a mark on it, came with the hood as well).

Took a few test snaps around my apartment, and it seems like a decent performer. Only mild concern, is that when using MF, the action feels rough, however I can't see myself using MF with this lens hardly ever.

Now debating to either go to the rodeo or up to Yosemite this weekend to run it through its paces.

Rodeo sounds like a good test of speed and you should find out fast if you have any bf/ff issues quickly too...
