Does it look legit?

Hey guys just wanted to know your opinion here.
I'm currently in the market for a da 40 ltd lens and found this one eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices on eBay.
while the seller describes it as a looking like new i can clearely see some chips on the body of the lens.
does it look dodgy to you or am i being too picky.

thanks.

Only 1 previous experience rating
Only 1 photograph
Shipping costs are exorbitant (well maybe not it is overseas)
Shipping from Thailand
Not much of a description

That's four strikes by my accounting

Might be just fine, just a new / inexperienced seller. Or it could be a scam. Good news is the price will likely end up lower as a lot of buyers will steer away from it. No question the risk is higher than with sellers that have a lot more good experience ratings. Ebay buyer protection should kick in even if it is a scam but personally I would pass. YMMV

Wow! Ah, 3 strikes in my book (<$20 shipping from overseas isn't excessive in opinion) but the 1 positive rating is for a $1.49 clicker that he just bought and got automatic positive feedback on because he paid immediately. I'd pass.

Large purchases from overseas should be reserved for those with good feedback dating back at least 6 months or more. I'd say a rating of 50 @ 100% or more before I'd spend >$50 overseas. However, if Paypal will give you buyer protection and you don't mind dealing with hassle, then you could go for it. In the end, I doubt the len will for less than $275 all said in done. That's a good deal, but not far off from what we see on the forum regularly.

I'll echo the above. Yes, it sounds fishy. But yes, if you trust eBay/PayPal customer protection, you may not be at risk. Bid up to your comfort level. I'll reiterate my basic bidding rules:
Bid low. Bid often. Lose 99% of auctions. Don't worry, another will come along soon.
